LIPOSUCTION FUEL STATION

Installation artist Michel de Broin proposes a human fat recycle project much in the same way as the origin of this blog (fitness feedback inc.).
In his model for 'Reciprocal Energy' he suggests that human fat, economised by driving motorized means of transport, should be made available as fuel for these vehicles. Through the combination of a liposuction clinic and a fuel station both the problems with obesity and fuel shortage can be tackled in one go.

Michel de Broin, 'Station' (2003)

"The model presents a development project for a liposuction clinic directly related to a gas station where the human fat will be resold as anthropo-diesel fuel. The liquidating of fat will be refunded at the market price (per liter) of biodiesel, wherein the price of fuel reaches that of the cost of extraction by liposuction."

LOVE HATE PUNCH

Designers/artists Stella Boess and Stefan Gross created an interactive luminous punching bag for box training. The bag, glowing red on approach, will lit op locally when you hit it and changes color according the aggressiveness of your mood and the input amount of energy.

“We made this work because we had enough of all those shallow and balmy emotions evoked by LED lighting. We wanted to entice people to become physically active in a museum.”

At the moment they are working on 'Love Hate Punch' V.2.0.

THE DAILY EXHAUSTION

Making art is an exercise as well proves artist Anouk Kruithof.

In her installations she makes use of photography to build 3-dimensional structures.

'The Daily Exhaustion' is a newspaper filled with portraits of the artist in a state of exhaustion by the process of making art. The newspaper is presented in a stack as an installation.

To the workaholic, production is exercise.

M-EILAND (recycling sculpture)

Artist Stefan Gross made the floating sculpture 'M-Eiland' (M-Isle) for an exhibition in a canal in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. 'M-Eiland' (the iconic yellow M it's building block) was to be recycled as fast food for city birds, mostly seagulls. In a daily changing sequence the sculpture gradually disappeared, leaving nothing but an empty platform and birds considering the leftovers.
